[전시안내] 멜로디 박 - Melody展

최정아 갤러리는 2018년 2월 21일부터 3월 5일 까지 멜로디 박의 개인전 《Melody》를 선보입니다. 《Melody》전은 멜로디 박이 일상 반경에서 매일 마주하는 다채로운 색감을 다양한 느낌의 선과 색의 조합으로써 작가 고유의 자유롭고 즉흥적인 감각으로 흥미롭게 풀어낸 회화 작품들로 구성되었습니다. 세상을 바라보는 작가 멜로디만의 작품세계를 보여주며 우리의 감성을 자극하는 찰나의 어느 순간을 선사할 것 입니다.

 

 

Artist Statement
색은 어디에나 있습니다. 보고 있는 모든 것은 색입니다. 색이란 사람, 시간, 공간, 경험, 삶 모든 것들 입니다. 우리는 언어를 배우기 전부터 보는 것을 통하여 많은 것을 느끼고 있었습니다. 제 작업들은 색에서 시작하고 색을 위한 작업입니다. 색은 모양을 만듭니다. 초록색 색연필을 들고 동그라미를 그리면 초록색 동그라미 모양이 생깁니다. 색은 보는 것이고, 본다 라는 것은 어떤 감각보다 상위 개념입니다. 우리는 다른 감각을 알려고 할 때도 “보다” 라는 단어를 씁니다. ‘소리를 들어보라’ ‘냄새를 맡아보라’, ‘맛을 보라’, ‘단단한지 만져 보라’ 라고 합니다. 보는 것은 무엇입니까? 우리가 보는 모든 것에는 색이 있고, 모든 감각을 포함합니다. 우리가 보는 것은 모두 색이고, 색으로 만든 형태입니다. 제 작업은 대부분 비구상으로 시작하고, 즉흥적이며, 순간적으로 끝나게 됩니다. 작업은 구체적인 언어로 규정 할 수 없는 본질적인 색에 관한, 색과 형태를 위한 에너지 그 자체입니다. 색은 색으로서, 선은 선으로서, 모양은 모양으로서의 조화로 이루어진 재미있는 에너지를 느껴주셨으면 좋겠습니다. 

Melody Park is an artist who is quicker with her hands than with her head. She is not beholden to plans or preconceived notions about the finished article. She prefers to let the work unfold of its own accord. There is a spontaneity and serendipity about her work process. Such a process tends to produce more abstract pieces. She has an intrinsic visual and spatial curiosity, and interests in the relationships between colour, shape, objects, and the body. She is inspired by her daily life and she believes that art is the experimental research arm of our studies into the everyday. Melody holds a BA in Fine Art from Kingston University, and at MLitt (Drawing pathway), also in Fine Art, from the Glasgow School of Art.
